About  [Edit]

The San Francisco Bay Chapter is home to the 40,000 Sierra Club members in the counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, and San Francisco.

Our chapter includes eight groups, smaller organizational units which concentrate their efforts in local areas within the chapter area.

Sierra Club membership includes all three levels: nation-wide Sierra Club, San Francisco Bay Chapter, and local group. At each level, members elect volunteer leadership to guide policy development. We are a volunteer-based organization and we encourage you to join with other member-volunteers to actively participate in local environmental issues and outings.

The Sierra Club's members are more than 750,000 of your friends and

neighbors. Inspired by nature, we work together to protect our communities

and the planet. The Club is America's oldest, largest and most influential

grassroots environmental organization.

1. Explore, enjoy and protect the wild places of the earth.

2. Practice and promote the responsible use of the earth's ecosystems and

resources.

3. Educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the

natural and human environment.

4. Use all lawful means to carry out these objectives.
