About [Edit]
Mountain High Hikers (MHHs) originated from a course entitled "Hiking in the Blue Ridge" at the Institute for Continuing Learning, Young Harris College. In the winter of 1993, 28 folks attended the course. That small group expanded in the next years to some 200 members. Most of our members are active retirees with members' ages from 40s to 80s, living in Hiawassee, GA, Young Harris, GA, Blairsville, GA, Murphy, NC, and Hayesville, NC.
We have two hikes every Tuesday so as to accommodate the great variance in hiking skills. Each year we have two, sometimes three, overnight trips, always well attended. In 2005 we have a trip planned for the Swiss Alps. We are one of the largest groups attending Wilderness Wildlife Week in the Great Smoky Mountains with 40 members attending in 2006. We have quarterly combined business meetings and potluck dinners. A quarterly newsletter called THE BLAZE is provided to all members of the club.
