About  [Edit]

Anahata is a group of community-minded people – couples, families and singles – growing a diverse, safe, fun and sustainable environment for all to share, enjoy and respect.

We live in thirty acres of native bush on the North Shore of Auckland, New Zealand. We have a variety of facilities available. Everyone has their own private living area and all other areas are shared. Community members come from all walks of life and make decisions by consensus. Prospective members must be willing to get involved in all areas of community life.

Anahata is a community established and maintained by the New Community Society Inc.

The New Community Society holds the lease from the NZ Communities Growth Trust which

owns the property, on which we live. To reside at Anahata Community applications need to

be made to the New Community Society. The Society is responsible, among other things, for:

membership issues; setting the rates for the financial contribution to Anahata and considering any departures from it; setting the community work requirements for members and visitors; and making policy.

The New Community Society is bound by the Aim, Principles and Policies outlined in the Community Governance Document. It would be recommended for all prospective members to spend time becoming familiar with the objectives listed in the New

Community Society Constitution and Community Governance Document.
