About [Edit]
Mission
Our mission is to make sustainability a foundation of all aspects of higher education in the western U.S. and Canada. We do this through collaboration among members to share resources and ideas that will assist them in integrating sustainability into teaching, research, campus operations [including purchasing, investments, facilities & construction] and community outreach.
What We Do
EFS West engages in a wide variety of activities – from organizing conferences, retreats, and workshops to funding special projects, research, and publications. These are designed to:
Increase collaboration among institutions of higher education in adopting sustainability practices
Empower and support faculty and administrators engaged in sustainability efforts
Provide professional development opportunities for staff & faculty
Engage all sectors of the campus community in shaping sustainability initiatives
Influence local and regional education policy
Work to mainstream sustainability within higher education in order to promote deep cultural change
Help build a critical mass of engaged institutions that can leverage change
