About [Edit]
Mission:
The Sister Fund is a private women's foundation that works at the nexus of faith and social justice. The Sister Fund envisions universal equity in our society that includes women's full development through spiritual, social, economic, and political empowerment. In supporting faith-based feminism, we hope to encourage the transformation that faith can bring to the women's movement, religious institutions and our culture at large.
purpose statement
The Sister Fund currently dedicates most of its resources to defining and supporting Faith and Feminism. This means that The Sister Fund supports programs and activities that build faith values in support of full equality and social justice for all, particularly for women and girls. We challenge society's perverted applications of scripture that would exclude or demean women.
The Sister Fund's work is defined by four main strategies:
- Name and validate both historical and contemporary examples of faith-fueled feminism.
- Build bridges between faith-based and secular feminists that reconcile differences, foster collaboration, and create new opportunities.
- Nurture women's leadership roles in all sectors of society, especially in faith-based institutions.
- Transform secular and religious institutions towards equity.
