About [Edit]
The Crystal Cove Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of the Crystal Cove State Park Historic District, its beach and the marine life refuge. The primary purpose of the Alliance is to promote educational and interpretive activities of the California State Parks System and to assist with the preservation and restoration of the Crystal Cove State Park Historic District.
The Alliance was formed in 1999 in reaction to plans to modify the Historic District structures to accommodate a luxury hotel resort on the property. The Alliance played a pivotal role in persuading the State to abandon that plan by raising public awareness through an alliance of State Park officials, community leaders and other interested groups. The result was that after four years of work, the California State Park Commission adopted a general plan in 2003 that preserves the historic cottages in the Historic District for interpretive public uses. Developed under the leadership of the Alliance, the plan balances the desires of participating organizations in an adaptive reuse plan that provides the public's use of the property and addresses pressing historical, cultural and environmental issues.
Our area of focus are:
1) Preservation program
2) Cultural Arts
3) Marine and Environmental
