About [Edit]
PLRC, formally established in 1984, is a non-profit private voluntary organization of women involved in law, women's issues and social development. It started as a corp of women volunteers who donated their services and expertise.
Activities: PLRC has four programs: advocacy; linkages and resources exchange; community actions; and research and publications. As an advocacy group, PLRC draws the attention of the public, of lawmaking bodies and of implementing agencies of the need to end legal discrimination against women. As a means for linkages and resource exchange, the Center taps appropriate organizations and agencies for information, encourages the sharing of material resources, skills, and training, and stimulates partnerships in research. PLRC's community action responds to the needs for legal self-reliance by community groups and provides legal support to community organizing efforts. The Center's research is oriented to assisting groups to develop their legal resources to enhance women's rights. It recently opened its office in Cotabato City to provide services in the area.
