About [Edit]
Dorset Countryside Volunteers is a practical conservation group run by volunteers. We were set up in 1972 by people who wanted to do practical work in the Dorset countryside which would not otherwise be done.
We continue today with that aim. Our volunteers are male and female, from all age groups, all walks of life and from all over the county. Our work is wide and varied according to the season, for example woodland work such as hedgelaying and coppicing in Winter; and dry stone walling, clearing ponds and footpath work in Summer.
Some of the organisations we work for include: Dorset Wildlife Trust, Heritage Coast Project, RSPB, English Nature, and the Herpetological Conservation Trust.
We work at weekends on tasks which may be anywhere in Dorset. We also run many really good social events. Each year we have a cross-channel exchange with the French conservation group Association Orchis in Normandy.
If you appreciate the Dorset countryside, if you`re interested in conservation or if you need an antidote to the stress of the office then contact us now.
