The Environmental Coalition of South Seattle is a non-profit organization committed to providing environmental information and technical assistance to businesses and communities throughout the Puget Sound Region. By bridging the interests of businesses, residents and government, ECOSS helps to preserve the environment and improve the quality of life for local citizens. Our services are always free and confidential.
A sample of this year’s achievements and activities:
* Worked with over 400 families to improve their energy efficiency and water conservation at home
* Outreach efforts created 400,000 gallons in annual water savings for local businesses
* Distributed 450 “green” cleaning kits to residents
* Helping to facilitate development of a dental clinic on a former contaminated gas station site in the Rainier Valley
* Free stormwater pollution prevention spill kits distributed to 120 local businesses
ECOSS’ program funding relies on donations from businesses, individuals and programs like Puget Sound Community Change.
We offer assistance in the following areas:

* Education on toxic household cleaning
* Household Hazardous Waste reduction
* Improving indoor air quality
* Sustainable landscaping
* Water conservation
* Business
* Business Sustainability, including Energy Efficiency, Water Conservation and Solid Waste Management
* Brownfield (Contaminated Property) Clean-up and Redevelopment
* Stormwater Management and Spill Prevention
* Regulatory compliance and environmental permitting issues
In addition, our Multicultural Outreach Team helps traditionally underserved communities and businesses save money and integrate environmentally-responsible practices into the workplace.
