About  [Edit]

The Centre for Ecological Economics & Water Policy Research [formerly the Centre for Water Policy Research] at the University of New England, Australia, was established in 1987 as a national focus for research into Australia`s water and water-related resources. The Centre`s original focus was on the development and refinement of policy options and the evaluation of economic, social, environmental and financial implications of policy and project scenarios for the public and private sectors. That focus remains though is now more explicitly located within the context of the emerging ecological economics framework. The Centre is now one of the world`s leading ecological economics research organisations. The theme of all our research and associated activity is on the facilitation of synergistic linkages between all the relevant dimensions of environmental management and policy activity including the ecological sciences, economics, geography and planning, development and cultural studies. The Group is a major Australian and international focus for graduate research in ecoloogical economics with around ten current Phd projects in the area.
