About  [Edit]

Krishi Prayoga Pariwara (KPP), as name indicates is a fraternity of farmers practicing ecological agriculture, vowed to the time- tested principles and human values.

The major activities include popularisation of organic farming/ ecological farming, on farm trails based on indigenous agricultural technologies which are collected from ancient texts and or documented village knowledge, training/workshop/seminars on organic farming and farming related activities or value addition to agri/horticultural/forest produces, direct producer and consumer linkage programmes and publications.

Background

KPP was initiated by a peer group of farmers in a remote village in Malnad area of Karnataka, India in early ‘90s. The peer group concentrated its activities around the growing agricultural problems faced by the farmers. Hence its major activity was to find solution for their problem besides collection of necessary informations and guidance from experts they need. The group grew informally under the able leadership of Mr. Purushothama Rao, a progressive organic farmer from Thirthahalli on the Western Ghats of Karnataka. During September, ’96 it became a registered body of experimenting farmers. Its vision and objective was broadened. Looking to the failure of present day development approach, KPP is trying to evolve an alternative approach and a practical vision and a strategy for development in which not merely the economic but also the moral, ethical, spiritual and ecological values and perceptions are promoted.
