About  [Edit]

Asociación de Mujeres para la Integración de la Familia en Nicaragua (AMIFANIC) was founded in 1997 with the objective of defending women’s human rights. Their goal is to promote women’s self-esteem and aid women who have been victims of sexual violence. The organization supports political action at the local level and has created work training programs for women, a self-help group for victims of family violence, and a training program on women’s human rights that has reached hundreds of women in Ciudad Sandino. AMIFANIC is composed of a general assembly of 53 women and run by an executive director, sub-director, and three program coordinators. In the future, the group plans to strengthen their awareness program and begin a political campaign against family and sexual violence.
