About [Edit]
The Boggs Center is a non-profit community organization based on the Eastside of Detroit. Founded in 1995 by friends and associates of James Boggs (1919-1993) and Grace Lee Boggs, the Center seeks to honor and continue their legacy as Movement activists and theoreticians.
We believe in the power of ideas to change ourselves and our reality. We also believe that people at the grassroots have both the capacity and the necessity to develop pro-active strategies for organizing and revitalizing their communities.
Our work is designed to help community activists develop themselves into visionary leaders and critical thinkers. Our goal is to share experiences and develop strategies that address the urgent need for a new American that all of us will be proud to call our own.
