MOPUTEL is an association of 336 families with working children in seven impoverished neighborhoods of the former United Fruit Company town of Tela. The organization was founded in 1990 by Centro San Juan Bosco, a children`s welfare organization, to enable parents to create positive alternatives for their families. MOPUTEL promotes justice and participatory democracy as solutions to the problem of child labor and extreme poverty in Tela.
