About  [Edit]

BURTON CONSERVATION VOLUNTEERS is 12 years old. During that time we have established ourselves as a group seeking to improve the environment, promote wildlife conservation and encourage community awareness. We are affiliated to the national charity BTCV [British Trust for Conservation Volunteers].

We undertake a variety of tasks, including footpath maintainance, stile and fence construction, tree planting, woodland management, coppice work, hedge-laying, pond and wildlife area building.

We aim to involve the local community as much as possible, to encourage local people to take responsibility for their own environment and hopefully continue to look after the work done.

We provide all the necessary tools, insurance and safety equipment for the task in hand. Each task is planned and a risk assessment produced. The proper use of all equipment is explained at the beginning of each task and someone is always on hand to help. Safety is our main priority and trained First Aiders are always on site.
