About [Edit]
APNM`s mission is to advocate the rights of animals by effecting systemic change, resulting in the humane treatment of all animals. APNM has been working to promote the humane treatment of animals since 1979. APNM is a non profit, 501 [c][3] organization supported by donations, volunteers and grants. We accomplish its work through education and outreach, and campaigns for change.
APNM will continue to provide expert technical assistance and comprehensive educational materials to animal control and other government agencies throughout New Mexico. A substantial part of this work will involve working with Governor Richardson’s office to institutionalize effective animal control operations and shelter standards in New Mexico.
APNM, in conjunction with All Faiths Receiving Home, will administer a renewed $5,000 federal grant for housing assistance for animals of domestic violence victims [granted under the federal Violence Against Women Act-VAWA]. The program is focused on women and animals in rural New Mexico, and is being funded by one of the first federal grants ever given to support such a program. APNM is hopeful this will set a precedent for other human services organizations around the country to apply for and receive such grants.
APNM will continue to play a substantial role in organizing a broad coalition of wildlife and land preservation groups whose aim will be to create a substantial and permanent source of conservation funding in New Mexico.
