About [Edit]
Hunt Alternatives Fund advances innovative and inclusive approaches to social change at local, national, and global levels.
Since its founding in Denver in 1981, the Fund has contributed $50 million to social change through a blend of grant making and operating programs. Today, the Fund operates out of Cambridge, MA, and is focused on strengthening youth arts organizations, supporting leaders of social movements, and advocating for the full inclusion of all stakeholders in peace processes.
Arts can be life-changing for kids. Focusing on the Eastern Massachusetts area, ARTWorks for Kids strengthens organizations that serve and empower youth by helping these organizations garner sustained support. We promote the arts in classrooms, after-school programs, and the larger community to encourage young people to stay on track.
ARTWorks for Kids combines grant making, convening, outreach, and advocacy to provide an infusion of fresh ideas and new relationships.
Grant Making: Supporting arts organizations directly.
Convening: Building a coalition to organize support for arts programs.
Outreach: Forging partnerships to identify new and sustainable resources.
Advocacy: Educating policymakers to increase public funding
President: Swanee Hunt
Swanee Hunt directs the Women and Public Policy Program at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, where she also teaches courses on bringing women into formal and informal peace processes.KQED Forum Interview: Swanee Hunt: Half-Life of a Zealot
