Summary of BayNVC Activities
Regionally:- Events for the public: workshops, series,intensive retreats (for individuals, couples and whole families), and practice groups.
- Leadership development: ongoing intensive 9 or 12 month programs
- Trainings for organizations: We offer dozens of trainings, more than half of them on a pro bono basis, to organizations such as churches, businesses, schools, and healthcare institutions.
- Support for individuals: We provide NVC-based counseling for individuals, couples and families.
- N American Leadership Program, a 12 month, community-based opportunity to learn to teach NVC that attracts participants from throughout the US and Canada.
- Events for the public: workshops and retreats in N America. 2008 retreats outside the Bay area will be held in Florida, Salt Springs, BC and New York
- Building NVC Communities to support new and existing NVC groups throughout the US and Canada
- Department of Peace: since June 2005 BayNVC has supported activists working to pass legislation to form a US Department of Peace. Support includes free monthly calls for activists and trainings at regional and national conferences.
- graduates of the Leadership Program teach in diverse locales such as Estonia, Sri Lanka and Thailand. In 2008 participants in ongoing programs include people from Japan, S Africa, and Germany.
- BayNVC staff support the international Center's works through service on various committees and through sponsorship of Peaceful Families, Peaceful World Parenting Project.
- In 2007 we began support for Brazilian-based trainer Dominic Barter, who has blended Restorative Justice practices with Nonviolent Communication in the juvenile justice system, with remarkable results. With the help of our donor community, BayNVC is supporting Dominic to create a handbook for this work to disseminate this groundbreaking model as widely as possible.
