About [Edit]
Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University (BKWSU) or Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya is a monastic, renunciate, millenarian new religious movement (NRM) of Indian origin whose teachings are based on, and practises, involve both mediumship and channelling. It promotes a form of meditation called Raja Yoga, which differs from classical Raja Yoga as described by Patanjali. As a neo-Hindu sect, the Brahma Kumaris (BK) pre-date the New Age movement.
The BKWSU, or BKWSO, advertises widely its UNO relationship and presents itself at many NGO meetings. It increasingly promotes its use of solar energy but at its core it believes in an imminent and unavoidable "Destruction" of the world and that its religious practises are bringing about this "purification" of the planet.
Destruction, the End of the World, is predicted to come about through a series of Nuclear Holocaust, civil wars and natural disasters including the sinking of various continents which will kill over 6,000,000,000 human beings to make way for a heaven on earth "Golden Age" for 900,000 of its faithful followers in India. Generally, "Destruction" as it is called within the organisation is re-labelled at "transformation" for non-adherents.
The spirits guides have predicted the End of the World will take place at various dates, e.g. WWII, 1950, 1976, mid-1980s and Year 2000. These have since been edited out of the organization's teachings. For the first 20 years of its existence, it believe that its founder, millionaire businessman Lekhraj Kripalani, was God.
