About  [Edit]

ACAT's mission is to promote research and education for Alaskans in sustainable economic development. To make educated choices about their future, people need to know what alternatives are available, and the implications of those alternatives.

ACAT continually strives to demonstrate how appropriate technology can be applied to promote sustainability, diversify Alaska's economy, and protect the environment. Past projects include: three major conferences on how local recycling and remanufacturing can diversify our economy; workshops demonstrating alternative and energy-efficient building/lighting technologies and organic composting; research and development of a fiberboard product made of recycled fiber; and development of a manual on energy-efficient building construction.

ACAT is committed to promoting technological advances that can provide both rural and urban communities with diverse, sustainable economies to support future generations.
