About  [Edit]

Svanholm is an intentional community located near the village of Skibby, 60km from Copenhagen on the isle of Sealand in Denmark.

Our basis is formed by common ideals concerning ecology, income sharing, communal living, and finally, Self Government. We do not see ourselves as "revolutionary". We simply gave up trying to convince society of our belief that the European level of consumption has unacceptably high costs. Instead, we put our energy into trying to find alternatives for ourselves. Since we strive for sustainable development, we are engaged in a long process and we don`t necessarily have a fixed idealised goal to head for. Our picture of where this process leads to is not yet set in stone.
