Brooks Food Bank Foundation is a member of Alberta Food Bank Network Association.

The purpose of the Alberta Food Bank Network Association is to provide support and leadership to food banks in Alberta in their efforts to provide short term relief in the area of food insecurity while working on long term solutions for hunger and poverty.

The AFBNA exists to serve Food Banks in the province of Alberta

- An official and recognized body representing all Alberta Food Banks can provide an effective problem solving vehicle for ensuring equitable and fair access to funding and other food resources.

- Networking, collaboration and an effective communication avenue with peers working in the Food Bank sector is especially important in the present changing global economy.

- When issues are addressed collectively and one voice officially represents policy statements supporting food banks these statements can be more effective.

- Working together to raise food insecurity and poverty issues in the public and governmental realms is more effective than individual advocacy on behalf of the clients.

- The development of standards provides a role model for food banks and credibility for member organizations.

- Leadership in the provision of direction, information and support for food banks through an association provides a western presence on the national level and is a recognizable central point of contact for anyone outside the food bank sector.

- Sharing resources, information, expertise and skills is the essence of food bank trusteeship.

- The easing of food insecurity in a manner respecting individual dignity and the welfare of Alberta Food Banks as a whole are of primary importance and should govern decision making.
