About  [Edit]

The ActionAid-Nigeria programme commenced operations in January 2000 with the establishment of its country office in Abuja. ActionAid works through a Country Agreement signed with the National Planning Commission of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Initial work started in two thematic areas Reproduction Sexual Health and Rights (HIV/AIDS) and Education. Conflict Resolution and Peace Building, and the integrated Partnerships Against Poverty commenced in 2003, building on the experiences and lessons learnt from the initial work, and where appropriate creating linkages with existing thematic areas. Promoting good governance and Gender are cross-cutting themes which apply across the whole programme, but will also have discrete initiatives.
