West Oakland Neighbors (WON) was formed to tackle specific problems that plague the geographic area of West Oakland. These problems include, but are not limited to, crime, housing, environmental contamination, homelessness, and the lack of responsiveness of our local government. Some of WON's current projects include air pollution mitigation research, promotion of brownfield and other infill redevelopment to increase affordable housing and homeownership, and youth activities. WON is active in facilitating

partnerships with local public and private agencies to increase the amount of investment and opportunities in West Oakland.
