About  [Edit]

Mission

We provide advice, support and financial assistance to local Quaker groups exploring the possibility of, or already running housing projects, and to other Quaker-supported housing projects. We use our limited funds to best effect by supporting mainly small housing projects to enhance the quality of provision in areas not open to public funding, or which other funders may ignore. What makes us special in the field is our unique combination of flexibility, discernment and spiritual vision.

Our flexibility is seen in the wide spectrum of our activities, from seed corn funding, to advice, revolving loans to top-up grant. We also cover the spectrum of project types and sizes, from new constructions to renovations, decoration to furnishing.

Our discernment is best seen in the type of projects we support: projects that are creative or imaginative or innovative - often the type that other funding bodies tend to shy away from. We support projects providing housing for families, single homeless people, older people, and people with special support needs.

The spiritual vision of Quaker Housing Trust is deeply rooted in the Religious Society of Friends' social testimony: the indissoluble fusion of faith and action; that the whole of life is sacramental; and that we should look for the causes of social evils.

Please note that Quaker Housing Trust is not able to provide actual accommodation, housing advice, or financial assistance directly to individuals.
