About  [Edit]

TrustAfrica is an independent foundation that strives to secure the conditions for democracy and equitable development throughout the continent.

Led by Africans, we convene dialogues, catalyze ideas, and provide grants and technical assistance to organizations working to advance these goals.

We currently focus on three critical areas:

Democracy & Civil Society
TrustAfrica works to secure the conditions for democracy by strengthening the capacity of civil society organizations.

Equitable Development
TrustAfrica supports efforts to foster African enterprise and extend the benefits of economic growth to all members of society.

African Philanthropy
TrustAfrica leverages new and traditional forms of African giving to advance democracy and development and minimize reliance on external donors.

TrustAfrica works principally through collaboration and partnership with like-minded institutions and donors. As a catalyst and convener, we are committed to generating and testing new ideas. We also strive to practice good governance and promote it among our grantees.

At TrustAfrica, we believe in:

- facilitating collaboration among African institutions and building long-term relationships with grantees;

- maintaining the highest standards of institutional performance, including sound management, accountable and transparent governance, effective communication, and sustainable results; and

- forging closer ties with the African diaspora to strengthen global alliances for Africa.
