About [Edit]
The Grass River Natural Area is a 1,165 acre preserve comprised of wetlands and wildlife habitat. Miles of trails provide for enjoyable walking, bird watching, and wildflower identification. The non-profit GRNA offers over a hundred organized hikes and classes, all year round.
Some recent changes have been made to make your visits even more enjoyable. All trails are self-guiding, each of the three trail heads is well marked, and the educational trail that skirts the wildlife cutting areas is intended for your year-round use. We have added a Perception Pathway for the visually-impaired.
Land protection, nature hikes and classes, and maintenance of the area, are all paid for by voluntary contributions to Grass River Natural Area. Donors enjoy benefits including discounted class fees, a 10% bookstore discount, periodic newsletters, advance notice of events and last, but not least, being part of an organization which helps protect Northern Michigan's wild beauty.
