The Human Rights Commission will champion human rights as a fundamental framework for a fair and just society for all the people of New Zealand.

Vision

New Zealanders know their rights, acknowledge their responsibilities and respect the rights of others.

Activities

The Commission achieves these through:
- education about human rights
- production and distribution of human rights information and resources
- inquiring into and reporting on human rights matters
- resolving disputes relating to discrimination
