About [Edit]
Jersey Shore Nuclear Watch wants New Jersey residents to know about the dangers posed by the Oyster Creek Nuclear Power Plant in Lacey Township. It is the oldest nuclear facility in the States and is located less than 400-feet from Route 9, a busy highway, making it an attractive target for terrorists.
We advocate:
- The immediate and permanent shut-down of this facility.
- Job placement for workers not employed in decommissioning Oyster Creek.
- The expansion of New Jersey's Clean Energy Program, including incentives and rebates for renewable energy such as solar and wind systems.

It would be better if we did this in a different order. First, install the renewable energy sources, solar, wind, etc., and then decide whether to shut down the nuclear power plant. Doing it the way you suggest will create a stress on electric rates, cause the burning of more natural gas, and require we purchase more electricity from neighboring States, some of which is power from nuclear.
I just read the article in todays Asbury Park Press about wind power off of the coast of New Jersey. We seem to be really stuck in the mud, never able to move anythng forward. I don't see any impact on tourism. Far better to install wind turbines versus off shore drilling rigs. Put them 10 miles off shore and move on. This is a totally jury rigged, activist oriendted energy program, one which derives it's momentum buy special interest groups with their own interests in mind.
I hear that Oyster Creek may have to install cooling towers versus using bay water. This plant has been in operation for over 30 years. Why all of a sudden is this an issue. And if we are throwing away that much energy as waste heat, then we should figure out a way to us it. No, we won't do that, better to complain and do nothing.
