About [Edit]
The Great Bear Rainforest in British Columbia, Canada is the largest intact, unprotected coastal temperate rainforest left in the world. Home to culturally rich First Nation communities, 1000-year-old red cedars, grizzly bears and the rare white "Spirit" bear. For years, heavy logging cut holes in its beauty and cast doubt on its future.
To guarantee the lasting health of the Great Bear Rainforest, three essential elements must be in place. Ecosystems must be protected. Forestry and all economic development practices must be improved and local communities must receive adequate investment so they can build thriving sustainable economies.
