About [Edit]
Groundwork Northumberland works to promote environmental regeneration and improvement in Alnwick, Blyth Valley, Castle Morpeth and Wansbeck.
This site highlights some of Groundwork Northumberland's activity in the region under the three headings
* People
* Places
* Prosperity
Engaging communities in planning land use is breaking down the barriers to civil renewal and employment. We carry out community consultations and offer a range of accredited training and basic key skills support - helping local people to participate fully in their community.
Working with communities to build stronger neighbourhoods
We make a long-term commitment to supporting specific neighbourhoods in need by working closely with partners. Through practical action we provide training and support helping local people to get more involved in making decisions about where they live and ways to improve their quality of life.
Working to realise the potential of young people
We involve young people in a range of activities designed to bring them into contact with the wider community and to increase their own confidence and self-esteem. Our aim is to tackle youth crime and apathy by getting young people to play a full and active role in society.
Through education promoting learning, citizenship and sustainability
We work with children in and out of school and adults to illustrate how individual actions can impact on the local and the global environment. We train teachers to deliver education for sustainable development. We also educate people to act more responsibly towards the earth’s natural resources and to respect local people and places.
