About  [Edit]

Our Mission

Tides Foundation partners with donors to increase and organize resources for positive social change.

We facilitate effective grantmaking programs, create opportunities for learning, and build community among donors and grantees.

Our Method

For over 30 years, Tides Foundation has been leading the way in progressive philanthropy – not just by grantmaking to innovative nonprofits, but by offering a unique host of services to donors committed to fairness, equality, and the sustainability of this world.

As a mission-driven public charity, we bring together people, resources, and vision by providing an innovative and cost-effective framework for your philanthropy. We offer discreet, professional, and personalized philanthropic services and an environment in which you can define and realize your philanthropic vision and values. We also offer the opportunity to join a broad national and international community of social change philanthropists and activists.

Through Tides Donor Advised Funds, Tides Initiatives, funding collaboratives, gatherings and learning opportunities, foundation management services, comprehensive and flexible program services, Tides takes the “heavy lifting” out of philanthropy, allowing you to focus on enacting your vision and values more effectively.

Background

Since 1976, Tides Foundation has worked with donors committed to positive social change. We put resources and people together--strengthening community-based nonprofit organizations and the progressive movement through innovative grantmaking.

We define "progressive" as creating a positive impact on people`s lives in ways that honor and promote human rights, justice, and a healthy, sustainable environment.

Tides Foundation has awarded over $300 million in grants to nonprofits working for social change in the U.S. and abroad. Most grants are made on the recommendation of one of our individual, family or institutional donors who are interested in funding specific issues or strategies.
