About [Edit]
The goals and objectives of our activities are largely the same across all the parks we manage and fall into four categories ecological, social, tourism and financial. Our ultimate goal is to establish wellfunctioning national parks which are selfsustainable both economically and ecologically.
Objective 1 : (ecological) to restore, manage and maintain the natural resources of the parks to ensure longterm ecological and financial sustainability. We aim to restore the protected area to its original biological condition taking account of the fact that it may be isolated due to human development on its boundaries. The biological resources are maintained in a natural condition and as wildlife ø we do not create zoos and we do not introduce animal or plant species which are alien to the local ecosystem.
Objective 2 : (social) to contribute to the upliftment, development and stability of the local communities
Objective 3 : (tourism) to develop the potential of the parks as significant tourist destinations in their respective areas
Objective 4: (financial) to ensure the permanent, longterm financial sustainability of the parks. We aim to ensure that each park becomes sustainable in the long term by enhancing the levels of income through more effective management, broadening the range of commercial income streams and creating a climate conducive to commercial investment. In those situations where operational costs continue to exceed operational income, alternative financial mechanisms will be required to assist with achieving park sustainability.
We are securing the future of some of Africa’s vulnerable protected areas through effective management and innovative financing, and by ensuring that these global resources directly contribute to real economic development and poverty alleviation for local people
African Parks, a charitable foundation established in the Netherlands, has the primary objective of ensuring the long-term integrity of some of Africa’s national parks by forming public private partnerships with governments to manage and finance their national parks.

We write to introduce the African Peace and Democratic Institute (APDI) concept and search for collaborations, affiliations and contributions from like minded Foundations, institutions and individuals worldwide towards the implementation of the project in Cameroon that will stimulate development and economic growth within the continent by providing the much need foundation of Peace and stability through professional Training and technical support to Non governmental organisations, local governments and individuals in Africa.
Why the African Peace and Democratic Institute?
The African Peace and Democratic Institute project is coming as a result of several years of working experience and observations made as concerns poverty alleviation struggle in Africa. The project was originally conceived as a Development Resource Centre supporting development in Cameroon since 2002. It has since grown in the number of programs it offers. The number of persons seeking our programs, the number of volunteers working for the project and the realistic impact of the program to our local development drive has created the need for an expansion and restructuring to support a bigger number of Africans seeking to under training in Peace building, conflict management and development studies. Limited by space and funds, we started a campaign in 2004 to expand the program to an African Peace and Democratic Institute (APDI) to support Peace, Democracy and Development effort across the continent by providing skill training, networking, thereby promoting an acceptable and conducive environment for the work of national and international development partners to have lasting and sustainable impact in the continent.
Dear sir/Me, we will be pleased if you will find ways we can collaborate with your good organisations towards the realisation of this project. Working on the IT component is a volunteer (Mr. Patrice Theunissen) from Holland
Hope to read from you again
