About [Edit]
Peoples Earth Decade began by using the opportunity provided by the World Summit to highlight positive solutions to our environmental crisis. The process and its outcomes are being used to encourage cross-sector collaboration linking together twelve broad areas of work.
Peoples Earth Decade has evolved following the success of the Peoples Earth Summit meetings in Johannesburg. PED aims to create a global network of people working to promote sustainable ways of living and committing themselves to a decade of Earth Justice.
The Objectives
To inspire and link activities around the world at the time of the Summit that are celebrating local good practice,
as an example of the potential that exists for global collaboration
To bring individuals, groups and networks together in Johannesburg and further afield, to develop tangible
initiatives for sectoral and cross-sectoral collaborative working in the future
The Principles
1. Respect for all Life
2. Non-violent resistance to destructive forces as a Responsibility
3. Pro-active support for Alternatives
4. Celebration as the language of Transformation
5. Reaching the People
6. Collaboration to amplify a diverse voice for positive change
