About [Edit]
The Asian Nature Conservation Foundation (ANCF), a non-profit public charitable trust, was set up in November 1997 at Bangalore, India, to meet the need for an informed decision-making framework to stem the rapidly declining natural landscape and biological diversity of India and other countries in tropical Asia.
The foundation undertakes its activities, independently and in co-ordination with Government agencies and departments, research institutions, conservation NGOs and individuals from India and abroad, in all matters relating to conservation of natural resources and biodiversity, endangered flora and fauna, wildlife habitats and environment including forests and wetlands, both inland and marine, and participate in and disseminate the procured information, knowledge and inferences in academic, professional and public forums.
VISION :
The collective efforts of trained professionals in ecological sciences and nature conservation, working in collaboration with government agencies responsible for the management of natural resources as well as local communities, are required to achieve long-term conservation of biological resources. To this end, the foundation endeavors to facilitate the gaining of knowledge through scientific research, surveys and assessments that ought to form the basis for the formulation of effective nature conservation policies and strategies.
