Portfolio 21 invests in companies designing ecologically superior products, using renewable energy, and developing efficient production methods. Portfolio 21 companies seek to prosper in the 21st Century by recognizing environmental sustainability as a fundamental human challenge and a tremendous business opportunity.
Portfolio 21 Investments is a pioneer in the field of social and environmental investing since 1982.
Our concerns about the ecological crisis began in 1982, and we continue to critically examine our assumptions and approach every day. We believe that global warming is better described as climate destabilization, and we recognize that this also means economic and investment destabilization. We designed Portfolio 21 to address the ecological risks and opportunities of the investment process in the 21st century.
We offer three services:
- Our global equity mutual fund, Portfolio 21, which has a $5,000 minimum for Standard Accounts ($1,000 minimum with an automatic investment plan) and a $1,000 minimum for Retirement Accounts
- An institutional share class of our global equity mutual fund, which has a minimum of $1 million

Our main office is located in the Ecotrust Natural Capital Center in Portland, Oregon—a building that serves as the hub for many environmental organizations and activities in one of the most sustainable cities in the country.
