About  [Edit]

Connect the Dots is dedicated to lowering the environmental footprint of the nonprofit community as they deliver their social missions. We leverage existing incentive programs (water conservation, energy efficiency, waste management, etc.) and package them into a comprehensive service for nonprofits to execute to quickly bring about environmental and financial savings. We seek to:

• enable nonprofits to make an immediate environmental impact;
• create an infrastructure that encourages on-going integration of sustainable practices;
• empower people of diverse backgrounds to participate in environmental sustainability.

By controlling the impact of nonprofit organizations on the natural world, we boost the influence of their social missions.

Green Start program

Our Green Start program concentrates on easy conservation practices that yield deep impact to "jump start" organizations towards sustainability.  For 3 months, we serve as "personal trainers" to nonprofits to address:

  1. Waste Management.Our primary focus is to grow a "culture of reduction" while increasing nonprofits' ability to divert waste from landfills.
  2. Energy and Utilities Conservation. Energy, water, and carbon emission are the key issues of global warming. We leverage the expertise and services of local partners to identify, implement and track nonprofits' organizational footprint.
  3. Environmentally-Preferred Purchasing. We couple our focus of reducing consumption with supporting the growing network of partners offering environmentally preferred products at competitive prices.
  4. Education and Outreach. We combine education and outreach with facility changes to challenge the deep-rooted behaviors of the nonprofit staff, board members and constituents.

Volunteer Consulting

Our consulting services are unique in that we actively recruit and train volunteers from diverse backgrounds to help deliver the Green Start program. As a result, we educate additional individuals to take simple actions that make a big difference. By giving people direct implementation experience, we promote environmental sustainability beyond the nonprofits itself and into the homes and work places of nonprofit staff and our volunteers.

Tracking & Reporting

Are we effective in our efforts? To promote ongoing changes, our methodology integrates planning and tracking tools to help nonprofits make informed decisions about environmental sustainability.
