About [Edit]
A-projekt is a non-profit organization working to preserve natural environment and develop rural communities in Northern Slovakia. We promote development respectful of natural, spiritual and cultural values of our region. We nurture partnership among citizens, local and regional governments, and businesses in the region. We participate in the creation of development policies of the Liptov region and represent Liptov in a larger region of Žilinský kraj.
Involvement of citizens in decision-making processes is a vital ingredient of sustainable development. To achieve this, we provide technical assistance, and implement training programs and other educational opportunities. Our work enables us to create a common ground for collaboration and trust building to design solutions to local problems.
For the last nine years, we have been working with rural microregions. We have experience in group facilitation and consult on matters of institutional development. We develop and test our rural development methodologies through our field work in the microregions and then publish the findings for others to use. In partnership with local and national governments, we also create conditions for modern environmental management of protected natural areas.
Our educational projects support partnerships between young people and adults. Elementary schools in our region take part in our environmental education programs. The Young Ranger program involves children to participate in active protection of species in two Tatra national parks.
