About  [Edit]

The Earth Council Alliance is an emerging international non-government organization [NGO] founded by Maurice Strong. The Earth Council Alliance seeks to promote cooperation and alliance between existing Earth Councils, National Councils for Sustainable Development, and other similarly situated organizations around the world.

The Earth Council Alliance supports the implementation of the two primary documents that emerged from the historical 1992 Earth Summit: The Earth Charter and Agenda 21. The Earth Charter provides the principles for a new Earth Ethic and Agenda 21 identifies the 40 priority issues that need to be addressed worldwide.

The Earth Council Alliance will build upon Strong`s record of success in bringing people from different perspectives together to forge collaborative solutions to the pressing problems of the 21st Century.

The Chairperson of the Earth Council Alliance is Tommy E. Short, a philanthropist and entrepreneur whose charity, the Tommy E. Short Charitable Foundation, is active in supporting youth, the arts, and the environment.

The Earth Council Alliance is pleased to be a Founding Sponsor of World Environment Day, San Francisco, 2005.
