To restore and protect the ecological integrity of the Petitcodiac River system and the Shepody Bay estuary by actively engaging in public education, promoting the river’s heritage, social and economic values, patrolling and monitoring the watershed, undertaking actions to enforce compliance with environmental laws and initiating watercourse rehabilitation projects.





Objectives of the Petitcodiac Riverkeeper



To restore and protect the ecological integrity of the Petitcodiac River system and the Shepody Bay estuary



To restore fish passage and fish habitat in the river system



To restore conditions necessary for the recovery of the Petitcodiac River tidal bore, and the removal of unnatural silt deposits in the river channel



To protect migratory bird sanctuaries and the feeding grounds of the American shad populations in Shepody Bay



To fight sources of pollution entering the Petitcodiac River system
