About [Edit]
The Catamount Trail Association (CTA) is a member-supported nonprofit organization dedicated to maintaining and conserving the Trail and fostering backcountry skiing in Vermont. CTA offers a guidebook, maps, inn-to-inn brochures, and other materials for planning day or overnight trips.
We are working to finish the few remaining incomplete sections, to find alternate routes off of busy snowmobile corridors, and to protect the entire trail corridor by obtaining trail access easements. We invite you to join us in this effort to establish, maintain, and conserve this valuable public winter recreational resource.
The mission of the Catamount Trail Association is:
- To establish, maintain and conserve a continuous Nordic ski trail the length of Vermont.
- To promote back-country skiing in Vermont.
- To provide a means for greater understanding and appreciation of the winter environment.
- To enhance the physical and mental well-being of the public through Nordic skiing.
- To provide assistance and information about the trail, other ski touring opportunities, winter safety and related topics to members and the public.
- To conserve lands vital to the Catamount Trail and back-country Nordic skiing.
- To work with and support other organizations that promote participation in outdoor winter recreation
