About  [Edit]

Mission...

We all depend on each other. Social Justice respects the right to exist with dignity for any one, that is to say ensure each one a life in conformity with the province and country wealth.

The CFSJ promotes alternative policies in order to create a society concerned mainly about human beings.

fairer distribution of power, thus a more dynamic democracy with greater participation;

fairer distribution of wealth, thus a more equitable tax system;

to improve the Canadian social security net, such as public health, public welfare and unemployement insurance;

to challenge the corporate agenda by attempting to counter policies of privatization, deregulation and the withdrawal of the state;

to increase the value and the dignity of human work.

Priorities...

...Struggle against Impoverishment in New Brunswick

Struggle against Impoverishment and Eradication of poverty exige des réformes en profondeur. An anti-poverty law and a guarantee income are the main tools to insure dignity for everyone.

For the short term, priorities are:

Increase income assistance benefits and appeal procedure.

•Increase and indexation of basic benefits for all categories.

• Family Security act must be fair with an appeal procedure.

Decent minimum employment standards

• an automatic indexation of the minimum wage;

• a gradual but speedy increase of the minimum wage;

• a 8-hour work day and a 40-hour work week;

• voluntary overtime paid at time and one half of the real rate beginning after the 40th hour.

Decent employment insurance in collaboration with the Canadian Labour Congress.

• Criteria for access: 350 hours whatever the unemployment rate in the region for all categories;

• Level of benefits :662/3 % based on the 12 best weeks of the past year;

• Elimination of the divisor;

• Length of benefits: variable by region. In region of high seasonal work: no black hole.

Real respect of pay equity in collaboration with the Coalition for pay equity.
