About  [Edit]

Feet First helps people create more walkable communities. We put feet first by empowering people the tools to incorporate walking every day for health, transportation, environment, community and pleasure pedestrian transportation is broken and lacking. Every other mode of transportation has an organized industry and a professional lobby, yet pedestrians are lacking a basic right to safe, healthy mobility.

Feet First is a hub of creative, passionate professionals helping communities in big ways. Find out how to take action or learn about places for people at www.feetfirst.info. Our web site offers resources and opportunities for you to become more involved and more knowledgeable.

Feet First is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving Washington State, with a focus on the Puget Sound Region. We were founded in 2002 to promote the rights and interests of pedestrians and to encourage walking. Our program areas include Community, Advocacy, Research, Education.

Feet First is known around the region for its long history of innovation and volunteer activities. We facilitate the Safe Routes to School program, develop community based walking maps, engage discussion through walking audits and are at the table to human scaled design to support people, place and the environment.
