CECOD is a Uganda based NGO, Accredited to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). CECOD was founded in 1999 to Empower communities in Uganda for popular participation in conservation of the environment for Sustainable Community Development.
CECOD envisions “ An Environment with Conserved Eco Systems and Communities Living Sustainable Quality Life” with a conviction that “ For Life to Continue, the Earth Must Continue Living”
CECOD works in close collaboration with line ministries and local government departments of Education, Environment, Agriculture and Community Development. CECOD in partnership with the Danish Out Door Council (DOC) is promoting Environmental Education (EE) in Uganda using the internationally recognized Eco School Concept through the Eco Community School Prtogramme.
The Eco Community School Programme is promoting Action Based learning in primary schools as a tool for sustainable development. Through the Eco Community School Programme, CECOD is contributing towards achievement of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) goals in Uganda.
