About [Edit]
The Mountains to Sound Greenway is the scenic, historic and recreation corridor along Interstate 90. This landscape stretches 100 miles from the Seattle waterfront through forests and rugged mountains to the edge of desert grasslands in Central Washington.
The hundreds of thousands of acres of land that are within the Greenway encompass vast forests, trails of all kinds, historic landmarks, wildlife habitat, parks and camping areas, working farms and forests and lands set aside to sustain clean air and water.
The Greenway hasn`t been protected by accident. In the past 17 years, over 130,000 acres of land have been acquired by the public in the Greenway, and an additional 90,000 have been protected from development by conservation easements.
But the Greenway is more than that. Even plans for urban development that keep green and open spaces connected and accessible to all are an important part of the landscape.
From Seattle to the small town of Thorp, the Greenway is a place to quickly get outside and explore the unique beauty of the Northwest.
