The American Fisheries Society (AFS) was founded in 1870, making it the world's largest and oldest organization of professional fisheries biologists and aquatic resource scientists. The Illinois Chapter of the American Fisheries Society (IAFS) was chartered in 1963, and currently has over 200 members.
