The Great Lakes region includes the seven states of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. Constituency consists of over 1300 congregations that work together in various ways to support the ongoing work of Mennonite Central Committee.
In the Name of Christ, MCC Great Lakes
- responds to human need at home and abroad
- confronts racism and works to dismantle racist structures and attitudes
- initiates dialogue through seminars, workshops, and resource persons
- provides service opportunities
- supports chruches in outreach ministries
- increases awareness of peace and justice issues, including world hunger, nonviolence and lifestyle concerns
MCC seeks to demonstrate God's love by working among people suffering from poverty, conflict, oppression and natural disaster. MCC serves as a channel for interchange by building mutually transformative relationships. MCC strives for peace, justice and the dignity of all people by sharing our experiences, resources and faith in Jesus Christ.
- MCC sends people, food and material goods to communities recovering from war and natural disasters.
- MCC encourages and supports local churches and community groups in their efforts to provide food, health care, education, employment and social services
- MCC helps people develop skills for creating peace in their families, neighborhoods, villages, towns and nations.
- MCC encourages exchanges of visits, gifts and prayers between supporters and those with whom we work around the world. These exchanges highlight for everyone the gifts, needs and wisdom of others.
