About  [Edit]

Chapters are the heart of Engineers Without Borders in Australia, bringing together like minded people focusing on:

- Creating a sense of excitement about international development.

- Educating engineers and engineering students about international development.

- Helping prepare members for overseas placements if they are interested in pursuing that path.

- Getting involved in local and national projects.

- Conducting outreach activities to raise awareness of development among other Australians.

Engineers Without Borders Australia works with disadvantaged communities to improve their quality of life through the education and implementation of

sustainable engineering projects.

Through the process of helping people in need we become more socially aware and responsible, improve ourselves and inspire others to action.

Our organisation aims to link engineering and engineering related students

with project opportunities, primarily in the development world. The

objective of all these activities is not only to contribute to new and

ongoing development projects in an effective way, but also to expand the

dimensions of experience for emerging and practicing engineers.

Our Vision :

EWB Australia's vision is of a world where every community has the adequate

knowledge and resources to meet their self-identified engineering and

economic development needs. We envisage working together with the host

communities and in partnership with a broad cadre of institutional,

academic, development, and engineering professionals who are committed to a more equitable and sustainable world. Through education and cooperation we will help communities improve their infrastructure, become sustainable and educate and assist other communities in their region. We intend to work in conjunction with other development specialists in fields such as health,

education, farming, etc. to create integrated and complete solutions. We

also see our role as an educator within Australia on issues such as

environment, technology and the plight of disadvantaged communities around

the world.
