The Community Empowerment Network, Jamaica exists to provide a range of services to communities and the non-profit sector in Jamaica, including:
1. promoting civic participation, consensus-building, stakeholder, activism, project identification, input, decision-making, community welfare, fostering, community empowerment, capacity building, self-reliance, community independence, sustainable community empowerment, community problem-solving, community organizing, participatory, community led, popular base, community power, grassroots organizing, coalition building, civil disobedience, direct action, community mapping
2. civil society building, strengthening, growing, supporting nonprofit activity, promoting, advertising nonprofit work, representing nonprofits, nonprofit promotion, nonprofit work, capacity building, technical assistance, consulting services, advice, enhancing nonprofit effectiveness, networking, advocacy, funding, NGO services, building the third sector, communications, media, marketing, capacity building, ONG, NGO, strategic grantmaking, effective grantmaking, social change grantmaking, grant-making, grant making, philanthropy, effective fundraising, foundation training, organizational effectiveness
3. promoting the principles of good governance such as ensuring obdience to the rule of law, fair, process, open, impartial, administration, decision-making process, policy implementation, public resource management, public service ethics, government, democratic deficit
4. advocating for the rights of all people to have equal access to basic health care and to information about health, regardless of financial status, ethnicity, gender, ability, or other factors.
5. working with state agencies to prevent crime and violence and in promoting human rights and civil liberties
