About  [Edit]

Dreamtime Village is both an informal network of friends and contacts spread around the country and also a collective community of residents, buildings and land located in the Driftless Bioregion of southwest Wisconsin. Our activities center on permaculture, art, media and learning how to live sustainably. We welcome visitors but ask that visitors contact us in advance. It is also a good idea to familiarize yourself with the website before visiting. We are actively looking for new interns and residents.

The Permaculture wiki is an interactive webspace that any user can browse, edit or input information and graphics. It is always an on-going project which is never finished. Most of Dreamtime`s contribution so far has been in the Plant area.

The name of dreamtime was chosen from the aborigine philosophy/life style. Central to their belief system is that their dreams are real & their waking life is a dream. [The Aztecs & probably other cultures also operated on this belief.] Their 45,000 year old culture is the oldest uninterrupted sustainable culture on this planet. As hunters & gathers they have devoted a lot of time to ritual, tribal chanting, dancing, body painting, & mask works, as means of maintaing a spiritual /psychic connection to plant & animal life, far more intense than that of the western world. While our version of dreamtime will pale next to theirs, it is an image of civilization which has powerful impact in the post-industrial Solar Age.
